WEB GEMS- Bot 3rd: Nick Green robbed Ray Durham of a base hit.
Hideki Matsui had 2 base hits and 2 RBI and Matt Riley hurled a 2 hitter at
the ballpark where the Tampico Stogies beat the Chainsaw Proctologists by the
score of 7 to 1.
Tampico went ahead for good in the bottom of the 3rd inning with 3 runs using
3 hits. After an out was recorded, Deivi Cruz kicked off the action when he
banged out a single. After another out, Durham got a good lead and stole
second. David Bell then drew a walk. Jose Offerman stepped in and he drew a
walk to load the bases. Matsui stepped into the box and stroked a one-base
hit driving home two runs. David Newhan joined his teammates in the uprising
and ripped a base-knock scoring the final run of the inning. That early
scoring held up. Tampico managed 9 in their victory.
The win was credited to Riley(2-0) who went the whole way allowing 1 run. Jose
Contreras(3-3) absorbed the loss. Tampico scored big getting 7 runs off him
in 4 and 2/3 innings.
