Matsui stepped into the box and stroked a one-base hit driving home two runs. David Newhan joined his teammates in the uprising and ripped a base-knock scoring the final run of the inning. That early scoring held up. Tampico managed 9 in their victory. The win was credited to Riley(2-0) who went the whole way allowing 1 run. Jose Contreras(3-3) absorbed the loss. Tampico scored big getting 7 runs off him in 4 and 2/3 innings.
